Colorado Lift News
Summer 2003 Edition
Highlights:
* Doppelmayr will be relocating their main office currently in Golden to Salt Lake
City.  The reason for the move is due to the recent merger with CTEC/Garaventa,
which has been located there since the late 1970's.  The Golden office will remain
open for their engineers and other local workers.
For more information, go to the
Doppelmayr CTEC website.
* The Riblet Ski Lift Company announced in late April that they would no longer be
making ski lifts.  Doug Sowder, the president of the company, said that there simply
is not enough demand for them to economically stay in business.  For more
information and his interview, click
here.
* The new Glenwood pulse gondola opened this past April.  It was built last year by
Leitner-Poma.  The lift reaches some caverns, which could boost tourism in the area
during the summer season.

* Berthoud Pass' long history in the ski business will end for good this year.  The
two Borvig fixed-grip lifts will be removed and sold to two eastern areas.  The area
does plan to continue with their snow-cat operation.
