History:
Val Verde installed a platter lift in 1969 with a length of 872 feet and a
vertical drop of 138 feet.  The area continued to operate for over a
decade and finally closed in 1982.

The area specilized in church group ski vacations.  Typical deals offered
to these groups was lodging in their two bunk houses and two "all you can
eat" meals per day!  Rentals at the area only cost $8.50 for the length of
your trip.

A recent attempt to reopen Val Verde back during the late 1990's failed.
Various trail and ski area boundary signs were added as well as electrical
upgrades to the Poma lift.

Directions: From Angel Fire, turn north on US 64 for one mile.  Turn left
on Country Club Rd followed by an immediate left on B4.  Take B4 for
two miles to the ski area.
