The Hanging Lake trail is one of Colorado's more widely known hikes. It
is located in the Glenwood Canyon, one of the last interstate highway
additions was built here. From Denver, take I-70 west past the Hanging
Lake Tunnel and follow the road signs to the trail head parking area.
There are restrooms and maps at the parking area.
From the parking area, the lake is about 1.5 miles away. The trail starts
out on the Glenwood Canyon bike path, but quickly makes a left turn up a
steep canyon. While the trail is quite steep in some area, the 1000 foot
incline is well worth it once the lake is reached.
