Colorado Lift News
Summer 2004 Edition
Summer Highlights:

After several slow summers of lift construction, this year is shaping up to
be much improved.  Several independent resorts are investing millions of
dollars into their areas, improving the way snow riders can access the
slopes.

The most notable single project this season is at Beaver Creek.  Two new
lifts will ease access between Bachelor Gulch and Strawberry Park.  The
lower of the two lifts will begin near the parking lots off of US Highway 6
at Avon.  The new base area will include locker facilities as well as a
coffee shop.

Crested Butte is going ahead with their new Prospect Development.  The
new trails are intermediate and served off of a fixed quad chair.  Since the
area was recently purchased by the Mueller family, owners of Okemo
Resort in Vermont, we should see some more key improvements to this
resort over the next couple of years.  In addition to a new quad chair, a
T-bar will replace the North Face Surface Lift.

Steamboat Resort once again enters the lift survey after six years of no
major on-mountain improvements.  The area in investing in a new
Leitner-Poma triple chair, which is the first Poma brand lift at this resort.
Steamboat made the decision to replace the old Burgess Creek lift this
past winter, as the old Miner-Denver double chair was going on over forty
years of service!
