The 2004 Lift Installations at Beaver Creek
On October 23, 2004, work began on installing lift towers for Beaver
Creek's two new high-speed quads.  The chairs were engineered and
constructed by Doppelmayr CTEC of Salt Lake City, UT and Golden,
CO.  Both of the chairlifts are "UNI-G" series high-speed quads.  The
pictures below are of towers located on the Lower Beaver Creek
Mountain Express, which will connect the parking area to the Bachelor
Gulch base.  Continued service to Strawberry Park will be possible via
the new Upper Bachelor Express.  This lift is scheduled for tower
installation later this week.
After the tower foundations are complete, crews first fly in the pole
part of the tower.
Next, crews transport the tower head and secure it to the pole.  The
sheave trains are then brought in last.
Here are pictures of crews assembling the lift towers.
These are a few towers completed and ready for the cable to
be installed later this year.
Above is the upper terminal for the Lower Beaver Creek
Mountain Express and the lower terminal for the Upper Beaver
Creek Mountain Express.  Crews will have the lifts operational for
the 2004-05 season.
