Lake City Ski Hill
Operation Dates: 1966 - 1984, 1998 - present
Area Stats:
* Lifts: 1 poma lift
* Facilities: Warming Hut
History: Lake City's lift was installed in 1966 by the local chamber of
commerce when it purchased a poma lift from Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.
Currently, this lift is the oldest running tram in Colorado.  The area
continued operation by the chamber until a couple bad snow years during
the early 1980's.  The area laid dormant until 1989 when the Lake City
Recreation Department decided to revive the area.  Due to code changes
by the Tramway Board, the lift was not suitable for operation.  It required
derailment sensors and a new haul rope.  Former Governor Roy Romer
was able to connect area operators with donors for a new cable and
mechanics from the Rocky Mountain Lift Association that were willing to
donate their time to upgrade the lift.  The area reopened in 1998.
